The Adolphus
SJ has always been an affable sort — but awkward to say the least. Because of this, he has spent his life with a multitude of acquaintances and few true friends. That was until he met Captain Johannes Bosch of the crew of the airship Adolphus. Let us introduce you to this mismatch of odd boat-fellows:
The Captain: Johannes Bosch is a God-fearing man of humble origins. The son of German immigrants and brought up in the mines of Pennsylvania , he is a thick set brawler tempered by a kind heart and a love for his fellow man. The captain of the Adolphus, he revels in the myths and legends that have surfaced regarding the way he obtained his boat — and he’ll never tell — but if you are welcomed onto the crew, you’re family.
The Pirate: Drusilla Gunn and her crew ravaged the East coast trade routes on her ship The Valkyrie. When they broadsided the Adolphus, they found it empty and held the crew responsible. Whether it was the fight in his eyes or the prayer on his lips, Dru became fascinated with the odd man at the helm. Rather than scuttle the Adolphus, she placed her first mate in charge of the Valkyrie and signed on to fly with Bosch in order to find out more about him.
The Baroness: Samantha Billingham has lived a riotous life. Born to a poor barmaid in London, she discovered that her father was a Russian baron. Upon discovering her birth, the baron married her mother and whisked the two away to his castle. She grew up in a life of wealth and privilege — and all the excess that such a life entailed. When her father died, there was a battle over succession that sent the Baroness into exile to America, where she eventually chartered the Adolphus for a flight and never left.
The Soldier: Stanton Lee Rutherford is a battle-tested soldier. Fighting for the Union as a crack-shot and scout, he managed to escape the fighting with only a minor injury that left him with a slight limp. Stanton is known to hang out at the local bar and brothel known as The Clover, where he is often seen in the company of the Madam. When not at the bar, he tends to isolate himself in his room for long periods of time.
The First Mate: Heinrich T. Maneuver is a simple man. More often than not, Heinrich will be found shoveling coal in the engine room of the Adolphus. He has served under Bosch since the Adolphus first took flight, and has proven to be a skilled mechanic and adept pilot. While Bosch runs and maintains her, the captain will be the first to admit that the Adolphus flies because Heinrich is there.
